In the picture of exposed aggregate concrete, which was overgrown with lichen and moss, I tried to educe a sense of beauty through analog and digital editing.
I uploaded the low resolution photo into software used for calculating embroidery patterns to receive a stitchable pattern. I followed the pattern analog by hand-stitching in the colour range of the original picture. The embroidery was then once more digitally edited by scanning the piece to transform it into digital print. The final analog step – sewing of the blouse – closes my hybrid interplay.
In this work I want to show the interaction and interdependency of digital and haptic craftmanship, honor both approaches and give them both space and display. Without the combination of both, we would have lost the link from past to present.
